Pointy Buckle Boots

Stealth update!

I'm planning on putting some other not a huge deal things out soon (hint, blinding orange recolour of stripe pants), but I've finally put out the second footwear I ever made. Yes, they predate sculpties.

(silent sparrow stockings from the silver Coronis women's suite, MMS Venessa hair, Schadenfreude Noir Revenant, Miriel eyes)

Next to the other boots in all of the usual places: Room 13 at the Starlust Motel, Juicy, and Haute Couture.

Freebies, treasure hunt at Haute

I suppose getting your first shite review is a rite of passage for designers or whatnot. This wasn't particularly featuring, at least, I suppose, just by inference as I wasn't mentioned by name/item, but still.

I've been reevaluating my philosophy on freebies for a while. A lot of people have developed a sense of entitlement about it. While this is the first time it's directly effected me, it certainly isn't the first I've heard about it- from Sn@tch's blog post, to witnessing bad behaviour in groups and stores firsthand, to private conversations with friends about the newest crap they've had to deal with, it's been something that hasn't escaped my notice, generally. And, it has already had me start dialing back my energies on that and tend to direct them to other things- even if it's just hanging out with people for longer than I might otherwise, instead of building. I haven't given up on it completely, but I haven't tried to kill myself quite as much to get them done when I otherwise might well have.

If I hadn't had someone thank me directly in person for them earlier today, I very well might have pulled them early. Yes, it's true, one person can ruin it for everyone, and if you don't like the free toys, well then, maybe you won't get them anymore. If I really did want to take my toys and go home, I'd stop having a shop entirely, and just give things to friends. Apparently, some people do actually like things I make. You may think I'm coming off as a whingey bitch here, but yeah, as much as I try to have a thick skin about it, it does smart a bit- and I'd have far far less of an issue over it if it weren't something that cost you nothing to get in the first place. Moreover, I feel bad for the rest of the people who fell under this umbrella as well. You buy things, you expect things in return. You don't buy things, you aren't really in a position to expect. See you don't care for it, move on and don't shop there. Or, at the very least, offer constructive criticism, not just "they had issues."

That said, the purple Skelebeaters are still there through tomorrow, and there's a treasure hunt going on in Haute Couture that officially starts at 8am, but some people (including me) have put things out early. It ends Tuesday- it was going to just run today, but, well, I think you may have noticed our little tiny glitch last night/this morning.

Skelebeaters, and the Starlust Motel!

I've been doing some work on the Starlust Motel. It's a communal baby, all of us have been working on getting it birthed and ready to face the public without upchucking all over them too much. Well, you know, unless you're into that sort of thing, and then if you tickle it just right, here...

It's been a really great thing, I've wanted to make spaces in SL since, well, before there was an SL, really. I still miss the MOO that a couple of friends and I put together. So when the opportunity came up to help build a place with an interesting premise, with a neat group of people, I was really really happy. I've also got that whole mix of excitement and apprehension that happens when any big thing gets to be finished enough for people to see it (although, I have no doubt that it isn't really finished, and we'll be adding things here and there for forever).

The opening is tonight, open to the public at 11pm, Friday night (SL time, of course). To celebrate, for the weekend, there's a free purple version of the Skelebeaters out front of Room 13, sitting on the chair, just waiting for you to pick it up.

The rest of the Skelebeaters are inside, and come in a black and white version, and a veritable rainbow. In a pack you get 4 different beaters, two cut for the ladies and two for the gentlemen, on black backgrounds and white backgrounds for each. They're on all layers for her pleasure. There's also a pair of tintable foot tattoos, a heavy ink, and a more faded version, of skeletal foot bones overlaying your own, on the sock layer.

(Hair: Allegory in unnamed unreleased thingie, Al in booN's NMR32, Alex in Truth's Kensei II, O. in Winter Moon's Slingback)

(I may retire the purple after the weekend entirely, or I may put it out at the same price as the others, I've not decided yet. Either way, it won't be free after the weekend!)
